A brief history of how the #WeAreNotWaiting hashtag came to be. (thread) 
On November 15, 2013, @AmyDBMine @DiabetesMine @Tidepool_org Line co-hosted the first D-Data Exchange in a small room at @Stanford.
Line was @skrugman and @ianjorgensen's healthcare design studio - they were working with @Tidepool_org at the time and helped produce the event. That week, all of the Tidepoolers were having an offsite at my house.
Lots of cool folks were there to show/talk about amazing diabetes tech. It was pretty inspiring. @ldez @bewestisdoing @jcostik @NateHeintzman @skrugman @PancreasInGame @ianjorgensen @iPancreas @annamcslipp @iPancreas @bate_jamie @kentquirk @HowardWolpert @karmel_a (more?)
There were amazing demos in including @NightscoutProj @Tidepool_org and @jcostik's pebble watch. Apparently Ross Naylor had been working till 2am on Nightscout the night before...
I was in charge of summarizing the themes for the day. Here are my notes from the whiteboard. @ldez offered "We Are Not Waiting" as a theme, among many other great ideas from the room.
The next day, I was in charge of summarizing the event for the rest of the DiabetesMine participants, most of whom hadn't come to D-Data. Here's the presentation I gave, check out slide 21:

A few days later on Nov 20, 2013, I tweeted this from the tiny Tidepool office in SF @somacentral. I'm pretty sure that this is the first use of the #WeAreNotWaiting hashtag. Honestly, I didn't think much about it at the time...

On Jan 19, 2014 Lane registered wearenotwaiting.org for $11.48 from Namecheap.org. It sat dormant for a bit while we all figured out what to do with it...
In January and February 2014, #WeAreNotWaiting got used 19 times. There are some good ones including from @jcostik @jameswedding (before @NightscoutFound existed) and about #DIYPS (the precursor to @OpenAPS):

Wes Ton started tweeting as @WeAreNotWaiting in Nov. 2014, 7 months after the CGM in the Cloud FB group was started.
Since then in addition @Tidepool_org @WeAreNotWaiting @NightscoutFound @OpenAPS #Loop @BigfootBiomed @onedroptoday @OpenAPS #Loop @DiabetesMine (... please pile on ...) all have all been known to tweet regularly with #WeAreNotWaiting capturing the energy of the movement (fin)
