2nd Niger Bridge will be 11.9km long:
- 1.6km Bridge directly across River Niger
- 10.3km Highway connecting the Bridge on Onitsha & Asaba ends

J/Berger says Project now at 16% completion; will be completed by Feb 2022

PIDF will mobilize additional funding from private sector
"PIDF, an initiative of President @MBuhari, was designed to facilitate the rapid completion of key infrastructure projects that had been stalled for years... Orji said till date, @nsia_nigeria had disbursed N71 billion [from] PIDF." thisdaylive.com/index.php/2018…
Uche Orji, CEO, @nsia_nigeria: "The Federal Government sees the completion of this bridge as the key to unlock the growth and economic development of the entire South-East region." premiumtimesng.com/regional/ssout…
One of the big misconceptions about the Bridge is the expectation that you'll see the bridge rising overnight. Nah. A large part of the construction work actually happens below the surface of the water, & in the construction yards in Asaba & Onitsha (fabrication, precasting, etc)
Some other things to note about the Second Niger Bridge:

DESIGN of the 10.3km Highway:

BRF (May 2018): "The design for the approach road that links Onitsha to the bridge and links Asaba to the bridge has now been completed; their was no design for it when we took office."
COMPENSATION for land is also an issue:

BRF: "We've received compensation claims of about N3.44 billion, that is a lot of money to pay for land, we've paid N1.8 billion [...] we keep receiving more claims and we want to be sure that we are paying the claims to the right people."
BRF (May 2018, during a visit):

"We've received an additional claim of N1.5 billion, and almost everybody now seems to just be filing claims, these are some of the impediments... If we're paying N5bn towards compensation, how much will we spend towards the actual bridge itself?"
