The EU has released its largest-ever report on antisemitism in Europe, surveying over 16,000 Jews in 12 EU countries: bit.ly/2G6yfUM

The results are absolutely devastating.

Here are some of the most troubling findings. (THREAD)

An incredible 85% of European Jews say antisemitism is either a very big problem (45%) or a fairly big problem (40%) in their countries; only 15% disagree or say they don't know. #No2Antisemitism
Nine out of every ten European Jews—89%—say antisemitism has increased over the past five years; nearly two thirds (63%) say it has increased a lot. #No2Antisemitism
Nearly four out of every ten European Jews—38%—have considered emigrating over the past five years because they do not feel safe there as Jews; 44% of French and German Jews have considered leaving, as have 42% of Belgian Jews and 40% of Hungarian Jews. #No2Antisemitism
Nearly a quarter of European Jews (24%) have witnessed other Jews being verbally harassed or physically attacked over the past year; one out of every five has seen a family member be harassed or attacked in the past year. #No2Antisemitism
Three out of every ten European Jews (28%) say they've experienced antisemitic harassment over the past 12 months; four out of every ten (39%) say they've experienced antisemitic harassment over the past five years. #No2Antisemitism
Seven out of every ten European Jews—71%—say they avoid wearing, carrying, or displaying things that might identify them as Jews in public at least some of the time; only 29% say they never do so. #No2QAntisemitism
A third of European Jews (34%) say they avoid Jewish sites or events or certain parts of their neighborhoods because they do not feel safe there as Jews; 43% of Dutch Jews, 41% of French Jews, and 37% of Belgian Jews say they do so. #No2Antisemitism
30% of European Jews say the most serious antisemitic incident they have experienced over the past five years was carried out by someone holding Muslim extremist views; 21% say it was someone with left-wing views; 13% say it as someone with right-wing views. #No2Antisemitism
Two thirds of European Jews (66%) consider the belief that the world would be "a better place" without Israel to be antisemitic; six out of every ten say claiming that Israelis are acting "like Nazis" toward the Palestinians is antisemitic. #No2Antisemitism
Eight out of every ten European Jews (82%) consider boycotts of Israel or Israelis to be antisemitic; only 38% believe merely criticizing Israel is antisemitic. #No2Antisemitism
Seven out of every ten European Jews (70%) believe their governments' efforts to combat antisemitism have been ineffective; only 26% believe their governments are combating antisemitism effectively. #No2Antisemitism
