Tropes thread

(Technically a thread of about thoughts related to tropes, rather than a study of specific tropes, but maybe that will happen naturally later)
1. Being *scientific* by talking about brains. No - *neurons*. And *cognitive functions*.
2. Some creators (most?) use recurring tropes - whether intentionally or out of laziness - and it becomes a sort of artistic trademark associated with them
3. Tropes in website design - surprisingly small handful of variations IMO. I guess it’s because people want to remind you that they’re like other people you know
4. It ain’t the work of a Wachowski if you ain’t strapped to a hospital bed by reassuring people who just want to wipe your brain
5. Idea: an underwear ad where the models are sitting around sloppily in a messy house looking bored on their phones or watching tv and eating junk food
7. Sometimes the use of certain tropes in visual storytelling conflict with the story you’re trying to tell
8. Movies follow boring predictable patterns because boring predictable people reliably keep going to the theatres to watch them; this is just a fact of life
12. Tropes in fiction as a way to plant ideas of friendship, honor, loyalty in real people
13. Saving the world by saving ourselves and each other
14. Thread of tropes that reliably get me crying
