1. Kudos and thank you @facebook for putting my video from #Yemen back up. They apologized and acted quickly. Four year old Ikram was in a hospital in #Sanaa this month. One of the many, tiny casualties of the disastrous war in Yemen. Thanks to @NickKristof for helping with this!
I met Ikram and her mother on my recent trip rebel-held #Yemen this month for @NewsHour. An estimated 85,000 children have already died of malnutrition and preventable diseases in Yemen as a direct result of this war, and the UN says that for some the famine has begun...
3. The numbers of those in need are staggering. And they keep getting worse: the number currently being fed by the UN - 8 million. Number going to be fed this coming year - 12 million. Number who need food - 20 million. That’s out of a population of 28 million. #yemen

One of the biggest talking points of the NRA and it’s supporters are the “human interest” stories about “good guys with guns”, and fanciful imaginings about how every shooting situation would end with a positive outcome.
Trump said during his “listening session” that if “that coach” had a gun, the whole incident at Douglas would have been over...

Or.......

1. Coach shoots 10 rounds and hits no one, and gets shot and killed. Shooter gets another gun.
2. Coach shoots 10 rounds and hits three other kids and another teacher, killing all of them.

3. Coach hides in a room with students until law enforcement gets there, and when they see him with a gun, they shoot him

When Saleh and family, including nephew Tareq Mohammad, appeared to recover control of #Yemen capital last Friday, his admirers, apologists immediately revived old praise for Saleh as a “smart” political survivor. This was most common view of Saleh in 1990s and 2000s. /1
But only in a country with dismally low standards of national politics would a leader like Saleh be praised as “smart.” In reality, Saleh practiced divide and rule politics that ruined any chance of unity in 1990s, while keeping Yemen mired in poverty. /2
Saleh always blamed poverty on someone else, rather than take responsibility himself. His record over the past six years, since 2011 Arab Spring, proved that he failed at every turn. Thus, there is no cause for admiring & apologizing for him. /3

About a war.

That has killed a lot of people.

But Congress never voted on.

This war is bad. Do not look away. It's brutal.

A dictatorship -- Saudi Arabia's King Salman -- is bombing its next door neighbor -- Yemen. And not paying much attention to where those bombs land. (2/x)
Our own U.S. government has supplied bombs, cluster bombs, jet fuel, and intelligence to Saudi Arabia in its war.

When Saudi jets fly to Yemen to drop their bombs -- THEY GET REFUELED ON THE WAY BY THE U.S. AIR FORCE.
