1) Happy new year all
Important to remember as we go past the 90 days mark till March 29 and Brexit day that despite all the smoke & mirrors, noise & misinformation from both Labour Leadership & the Hard Brexiters there's only 3 options on the table:
2) those 3 #Brexit options are:
1) No deal - crash out & a mad scramble to get ourselves together
2) Theresa May's deal - rule taker not rule maker, horrendous fudge that tried to please everyone & ended up pleasing no-one
3) Remain - stay in the EU under exactly the same benefits
3) There are no other #Brexit options, no time to negotiate them & no interest from the EU27 in tweaking or changing the Brexit deal, anyone who says otherwise is simply lying - there is no "Better Brexit deal".
4) This seems weird to accept because it feels like we've been in negotiations forever, Theresa May is trying to convince she is *still* in negotiations & Jeremy Corbyn is trying to convince us that Labour would do a better job. She isn't and he couldn't.
5) the truth is both Labour & the Tories want to end Free Movement and that comes at a significant cost. There is no "closer relationship to" the Single Market, its in or out.
6) So it doesn't matter what you voted for, or what we were promised, or if May is a remainer or if Johnson lied to us, there are no other options other than these 3.
7) therefore whichever way you voted but especially if you voted leave, you're going to have to decide which of the 3 options you want. And if you want May's deal or No deal not only are you going to have to accept the country being "quite a bit" to "quite a lot" poorer for years
8) but you're going to have to accept this is only the *start* of Brexit. This is just the withdrawal agreement, not the trade deal. Its the break up, not the actual divorce.
9) With either no deal or May's deal we're going to be arguing over the transition agreement & the EU trade deal for the next 4 to 8 years at least.
10) Nothing else will get done by government, the news will carry on being #Brexit left, right & center and every time the government changes the priorities on the deal will change. It will go on forever
11) So, we're down to real world choices:
It's either no deal, short term chaos, long term major financial impact & years of fighting over EU & other trade deals...
12) Or May's deal, 4 years + of vassalage rule taking, long term minor financial impact & years of fighting over EU & other trade deals
13) Or Remain, and we go back to our existing deal with the EU, and its 70 odd existing trade deals (including a major one with Japan), and we just get on with our lives, and stop talking about Brexit, and focus on the important stuff that will actually have a benefit.
14) Because let's be honest, no-one voted for this #Brexit basket case.
