"Management" is just a bundle of loosely related skills and experiences: mentorship, organization, clear communication, etc. Unbundle them and look for other ways to practice them or demonstrate competency.
I've said this before, but I think that getting comfortable with public speaking is the single best thing I ever did for my career. Certainly the best for my management skills.
