I haven't done this in a while all, and my friend told me I was due. Most of you don't know, but fen is a music guy. Like for REALS.

So sit back, forget about the shitshow, leave the politics behind and enjoy some tunage won't you?

Let's kick it off loud shall we? When I saw the first ad for Tony Hawk's Pro Skater, The Ernies were the tune of choice. I freaking LOVED that game, and for some reason I always tricked better when this played.
2/
Hip-Hop and me go WAY back, and as a dude who grew up a nerd I love me some Nerd Core, and @_mcchris. And who doesn't love Wiid? Thanks Chris, for combining three of my favorite things, Julie Andrews would be proud.

Little known fact: although I played six instruments at one point, my axe of choice will always be the baritone sax. I've never read it, but I'd bet that for Ray Charles it came in a close 2nd to his "piana," he ALWAYS had a bari in his tunes.

So here's Fishbone, Flea, John Frusciante covering an old Temptations tune, Shakey Ground. This shit is FULL ON FUNK. Get out of your seat, get a partner and GRIND baby.
5/
Speaking of Fishbone...You Ugly.

I mean U.G.L.Y. ugly.

Gotta love some ska.

Some friends and I last night (or was that today?) were laughing about 80s clothes because they were hilarious. (don't @ me) Frankly, generally speaking 80s pop music was hilarious too.

Here's a prime example:

This might be my favorite Dylan tune. Who doesn't love a good break up tune right?

This one though...whew.

Powerful.

I'm not cryin', you're cryin'.

Not gonna lie people, bluegrass is a huge thing for me. I used to borrow my Pa's old Jimmy 4x4 with an 8-track player and all he had were old bluegrass tapes. I'd drive around MO by myself, doing my level best to harmonize with the masters.

Mos Def calls himself that because he's almost deaf. Reminds me of Beethoven of course, another musical master who was deaf. You're sitting in fine company Mos.

And he can act.

Here's a fave.

Velvet Underground...

Lou...

Nuff Said?

When I think about Cake I'm immediately struck by the sheer volume of quality music they created. They sound just as good live as they do in the studio too. This album is well known, but here's the best tune on it.

I've a friend here who LOVES Nina Simone. This one's for you brother. You and me and music?

A gem.
13/
Getting close to the end now folks, mostly tunes about me now. Some on here have heard this one before, some not. This tune is intensely biographical for me. The album was prduced by Jello Biafra interestingly.

I really wanted to get some classic rock and some hard blues going but this thread's getting long.

Y'all won't fault me a twofer will ya?
15/
Here we are at the end and I really hope you all enjoyed it. I know I did. Feel free to hop in there, link some of your own tunes, talk about music and memories. Mostly I'd just like to see y'all have fun.

As always, I close with my theme song.
