I’m struck by the degree to which the progressive movement seems to simply be about legitimizing the illegitimate. (1)
Sometimes this impulse to legitimize the illegitimate is right and noble, when society is wrong. It was at one time illegitimate for blacks to be considered fully human, or fully citizens, for instance. It was considered illegitimate for women to own property, or to vote. (2)
But were these just and noble progressive crusades just an example of even a stopped clock being right twice a day? Because many progressive crusades to legitimize the illegitimate were horribly immoral, such as eugenics, and eroded freedom, such as prohibition. (3)
And today, progressivism is trying to legitimize the illegitimate by obliterating the distinction between legal and illegal immigrants, making legitimate and even heroic those who illegitimately sneak into the country. (4)
Or legitimizing the illegitimate by pretending that gender dysphoria is a choice rather than a mental health issue requiring treatment? Again, the impulse is simply to legitimize anything society considers illegitimate, assuming that all social value judgments are wrong. (5)
Further proof will be attempts to normalize pedophilia, which are already underway.

My point is that progressivism seems to consist of little more than legitimizing anything society considers illegitimate. In the course of which it is sometimes right but sometimes wrong. (6)
