X : Labour should stop playing political games over brexit.
Me : 120,000 dead through austerity, 14 million in poverty and 130,000 children homeless at Christmas. You think this is a game?
... there is so much that can and should be done from the 3M social houses required to the re-investment in local communities to the reduction of waste (which is still profligate) to tax avoidance, industrial policy to ... it's a long list, if the political will exists.
X : You seem to think the Tories are evil?
Me : No. Many of my best friends are Tories and I certainly find myself in agreement with many One Nation Tories. I view that neoliberal policies are misguided and it is fair to say that many of New Labour policies were of that form.
X : How would you vote in your poll?
Me : I am in favour of more democracy and sustainability (both of resource and people) which means I'm opposed to neoliberalism. In the current climate, my preference is Labour Leave > Labour Remain > Conservative (either).
X : How about LibDems?
Me : I made that mistake before. I sincerely regret it. I am unlikely to repeat that error in my lifetime.
X : How would Labour deal with immigration?
Me : The only issue with immigration is a lack of investment in housing, resources and services. Immigration is used to deflect from the real causes mostly by certain sections of the press when they're bored laughing at the poor.
X : Are you a marxist?
Me : No. I oppose both Marxism and the laissez faire ideology of Friedman embedded in neoliberalism. I prefer the economic centre of Keynes, Hayek and Smith.
X : Hayek was opposed to Keynes.
Me : Oh dear. This why the US doesn't understand China.
X : Why do you oppose EU?
Me : I'm not. I'm opposed to EC (part of the EU) for reasons of democracy. It's why I support DiEM25.
X : What about the economy?
Me : Given the upheaval in global economic balance then now would be the time to change.
X : What upheaval?
Me : Ah ...
X : Do you really think the UK can take advantage of brexit?
Me : Yes. With the right leadership and political will. Which brings us back to the first point and why this is not a game. If we wish to succeed then we have to unlock the talent of the many and not just the few.
