Sen. Graham""What about those with the power to bring charges against American citizens including those in Congress? We should always be on guard when a politician interferes in an investigation but we should also have oversight on how the department works.
Asks about the NYT article about FBI looking into Trump. Asks Barr to look into this and find out whether or not a counterintelligence investigation was opened up against Trump.
Barr: "Yes, there are a number of investigations going on in the department."
Graham: Have you ever heard of such a thing?
Barr: I have never heard of that.
Graham: Are there rules to these investigation? Are there checks and balances?
Barr: Not other than the FBI.
Graham: We need to look into that.

SPCs #Manafort filing is heavily redacted as expected. What he said, about whom etc. Will post doc in full shortly.
To note, the filing starts with a declaration by FBI Special Agent Jeffrey Weiland who participated in a dozen proffer sessions with Manafort.
The information around what was discussed is redacted, clearly. But at the core here, SPC contends Gates told investigators Manafort told him in Jan '17 to go ahead and use "intermediaries" in order to help folks land a spot in the Trump admin.

Leahy asks if the situation at border can only be resolved by declaring a national emergency. He also refers to the shutdown as the "Trump shutdown." Barr begins to say its an unfair characterization but Leahy cuts in, says "He said to call it that."
Barr laughs, and says Ok...
Leahy then asks if he considers law enforcement officials going unpaid as a result of shutdown to be a nat sec issue. Barr says, not having a secure border is a nat sec issue.
Leahy repeated, but they go unpaid. and that IS a national security problem.

Looks like we are stuck on this one.

Feinstein asks again about what will be revealed to the public in the Mueller report. Will Barr provide Mueller's report *in addition to* the summary the AG is required by law to create?
Barr, again, is saying that there is some flexibility/discretion that can be used by an AG but his objective end goal is to get as much as the information as he can to Congress and the public.
"These are departmental regulations. I'll be talking to Rosenstein and Mueller. There's probably existing thinking in the department but all I can say at this stage is I will try and get the information out there consistent w/these regulations & to the extent I have discretion...
