Correction to this article: I was never "forced" to show my ID. Several times, it was demanded, and I refused on principle, citing city law. No trans person should feel obligated to comply with unlawful requests, esp. when it puts them in danger.

I worry that a trans person will read this article and feel pressured to go along with incidents of discrimination that can put them at risk of physical violence and/or escalated forms of discrimination (being fired from their job). This should never be the case.
I really appreciate the coverage by @CallumPaton1 and @Newsweek, and I've already emailed them with this correction.
