There's going to be extensive scrutiny of the history of every significant Democratic candidate, including from me, starting real soon. That's how it should work, though obviously we of The Media can do lots of things better than we did in 2016.
Don't hand Trump endless unfiltered airtime. Challenge lies to candidates' faces and in news copy. More and more-nuanced policy coverage. Don't let Trump gimmicks (mean nicknames, etc.) set daily agendas. For me, Daniel: less certainty about polling data.
I think it is clear that there were various kinds of very major media errors in 2016. I just see some people on Twitter responding to normal, necessary media scrutiny of 2020 Dems and saying "here we go, But Her Emails, 2016 all over again," and I think that's unfair.
