So, we really going to have a segment of black folks giving the correct-type-of-blackness litmus test to Kamala Harris like we did with Obama? Critiques that have nothing to do with her politics but only to do if she is really the right kinda black? I’m already tired.
What’s so wack about it is 1) The sense that black Americans are not by definition racially mixed. 2) If she did not claim her blackness, exact same folks would be calling her a sellout 3) As if black people did not arrive to Jamaica on the same damn ships as those who got here.
Some folks might be shocked that Shirley Chisholm was born to two black immigrant parents. Guess we can’t count/claim her either.
