People I’ve been talking to this morning are convinced, following the arrest of Roger Stone, the air traffic chaos, and turning tide of public opinion, that Trump will be declaring a national emergency to secure funding for a wall and also to change the conversation.
These are Democrats and Republicans. There’s no evidence either way, but the developing consensus of opinion is that this is about to go down.
A few believe Trump will reopen the government while keeping the wall debate as a consistent cudgel in the lead up to the 2020 Election. That route could use a short-term solution that relieves economic stress on workers and system.
