Helpful advice from Stonewall's website:
Q “How do you know you’re trans?”
A "Many people know they’re trans from a young age. Some trans people might not have the language or understanding of what it means to be trans until later in life.”/2
“But it is always something innate and absolutely core to your sense of self. It’s not something that’s a fad, a 'lifestyle choice' or something that comes and goes. It is an essential part of who you are that can’t be changed."/3
"If you aren’t recognised as being the gender you know you are, it’s extremely damaging.”/4
First, it’s not only the trans people who “might not have the language”. The people drafting this info certainly don’t, since they don’t answer the question. Second, this innate and unchangeable stuff. Just. No. Many of us remember feeling dysphoria that eventually passed./5
I was a boy called Sam at three and a boy called William at 15. Now I’m a grandmother (aka “irrelevant old woman”)./6
Growing numbers of people are now coming forward to explain their decision to desist or detransition and to embrace their birth sex. Not from social pressure but because their sense of self has changed. Transgender ideology is not progressive./7
To suggest that biological sex can be changed but gender (never defined) is innate and can’t be changed, is simply ludicrous. There is no scientific basis for it. People are entitled to believe funny things. But not to inflict them on the rest of us. Especially not on children.
