Does anyone know what the source of these extremely specific numbers is, or if there is a source? (He says “DHS,” but DHS estimated in December 2018 that there were 12 million illegal immigrants in the US as of 2015, not 25,772,342.)
Maybe a clue: One America News, the fawning pro-Trump TV channel, also ran some extremely specific numbers this week, including an estimate of 25 million-plus illegal immigrants and an $18 billion-plus cost this year.
Oh true, good eye: OAN said there are 25 million “total aliens,” which includes some legal immigrants (or should). Trump made it 25 million “illegal aliens.”

Claims about The Wall have gotten harder to fact-check in the last month. Both sides have shifted in what they consider “wall,” taking cues from Trump’s shifts.
The Wall used to be, roughly, a giant, concrete, new barrier. But now Trump has started saying: a) Replacement fences are also his Wall, and b) New fences are also his Wall.
Meanwhile, Democrats who authorized some new fencing for 2018, along with a bunch of replacement fencing, are now saying they’ll also reject new non-concrete barriers, since that counts as Wall.

The approval process for the revised NAFTA agreement been delayed by the government shutdown. Pelosi's Democrats might delay it a whole lot longer, conceivably even into the next presidential term: thestar.com/news/world/201…
Pelosi hasn't spoken definitively about timing. A senior Dem aide says members of the caucus are still getting educated on the agreement, and "the timing will depend on that process." One expert: “What is the incentive for Nancy Pelosi to put this up on the floor of the House?”
Some history: HW Bush signed NAFTA in '92; Clinton said he'd grant final approval only with new labour and enviro provisions added; when he took office in '93, there were months of tough additional negotiations with CA and MEX. Very possible we see more talks on Trump's deal too.

As a furloughed scientist, I thought it worthwhile to use my PhD skills to look at evidence for the president’s claims of a national security crisis & whether his desire for a wall is an adequate justification for a government #shutdown that has cut off pay for 800,000 Americans.
What every American should be asking themselves right now is this: what is the evidence that our border is so unsafe that it constitutes a crisis and the need to #BuildTheWall? Evidence that would be needed to support such a claim are that...
(A) there has been a dramatic increase in people crossing our border over time, (B) there is an increase in crime with an increase in immigration, and immigrants commit more crimes than those within our borders, and/or (C) current strategies for border security are ineffective.

1. Trump and Jeff sessions together sued the government of California for its Sanctuary City policy. This was quickly followed by a collective loss of sphincter control by Jerry Brown and other CA politicians.
2. Kamala Harris who is preparing to run for president made sure she showed the people exactly whose side she is on.
3. In 1994 California passed Proposition 187. It was a ballot initiative designed to prohibit illegal aliens from using non-emergency health care, public education, and other services. After voters passed the law by ballot referendum it was challenged in court.
