The foundation of America was an aristocracy intended to protect the wealthy while maintaining order among the repressed.

We've seen the logical conclusion. Rampant and cruel inequality. The question of the moment is whether we'll continue on this path or find a more humane one.
Trumpism is a call to return to a time where you didn't question the machine of our government and its assistance of the hierarchy. America was "great" when the repressed knew their place and stayed silent out of fear. It's both a philosophy and the organization of force.
What we see with economists and people like Howard Schultz are those who like to hide behind the narrative of American equality while benefiting from an inherently unequal system. The market is wired like a bomb with everything running through it in order to strengthen dependence
We've gone from asking whether legislation or ideas are good for people to asking whether the all-knowing market will like it. How will the market react? It's a terrible relationship and it undermines nearly all public good.
In the research I'm doing on a project I'm going through the founding debates and processes and this entire system was designed as a means of seeing people as awful and using their faults as a means of controlling that awfulness. It only breeds more awfulness.
Trumpism tells us to shut up and relax or else we'll be made to shut up and relax. The market tells us that this is a fair system that divines winners and losers while serving the people who have already won. None of this works. We're watching it break down in real time.
And the worst thing is that the people who are supposed to be on watch for it breaking down are the ones who benefit from the breaking down. Our politicians and our media are invested in this thing continuing without major reform. They're stakeholders and they're implicit.
There has to be a radical realignment in how we view the role of government, the market, and how our systems operate. We're at the end of the road for this thing. It's a crisis of massive proportions and until we recognize we're doomed to go further and further down a bad road
