Also, Sen Sanders, can you please get one thing through your socialist skull: There is nothing free in this life. Nothing! In the end, 'free' is always the costliest. What people 'think' they are getting for free, they end up paying dearly for, with their liberty and their life.

1. Green New Deal (GND) -- the most malodorous and putrid bombast of flatulence ever to have come out of sitting members of Congress. It's not a bill or a resolution. It's a sick parody compiled by a bunch of clueless and degenerate minds.
2. Allow me to show you what it says the government will provide in 10 years -- basically everything under the sun, but the best part is it will also provide economic security for anyone 'unwilling' to work. How frigging delicious is that!
3. Lest you think they didn't think of how to fund it. They did. It will be funded by Federal Reserve through Quantitative Easing.

I think there is an easier way to achieve all the goals even faster (of course the Left will get around to it in good time): Eliminate all people.

I am truly touched by Matthew's sincere concern (his whole thread is worth reading to get the full extent of his concern), but I have a different perspective, which may be jarring to some, but a relief too, I hope.
2. Matthew is making the erroneous assumption that people engaged in serious academic professions are serious people. They are not. They have never been, nor will they ever be, any more than people in general.
3. Social media is fundamentally an emotional medium. And emotionally, there isn't a dime's worth of difference between 'serious' academics and general population. A case could be made that academics, on average, may even be more stunted emotionally than the general population.

Democrats seem to have made a good decision not to show blind disrespect by looking like sourpusses. They are applauding bipartisan overtures. This is wise. @AOC refused to applaud President's call for compromise for the common good. That is stupid!
Like I said in the moment (see above tweet), when even Nancy Pelosi stands up and applauds, @AOC remains seated with a scowl. That is stupid. If cooperation, compromise, and the common good are anathema to her, why the heck is she in Congress?

In the 1950s, Venezuela was the richest country in Latin America, and the fourth richest country in the world.
Just because socialism leaves societies destitute does not mean it only happens to destitute societies. It can happen anywhere!
In 1974 Venezuela stopped defining its bolivar in gold terms. In 1975 it nationalized the oil industry. In the 80s gov't went bust, bolivar collapsed, people impoverished, and socialist nutjobs became increasingly popular.
Today, they're in late stage socialism, i.e starvation.
