I spoke with 2 GI’s on leave over the holidays. They worked 8-12 hours/day installing razor wire on the border. Their hands were shredded so I asked.
They said there wasn’t a valid reason to be there other than their CIC making up a nonexistent emergency& it destroyed their BDUs

I’m being asked so more info:
BDU=Battle Dress Uniform.
All Military get an allotted ~$100/year for uniforms. One BDU costs ~$80 includes, shirt, pants, hat—does Not include boots which are the stipend and above.
Combat boots at a bare minimum are much more than $100.

Uniforms are not included in the millions for projected cost of Trump sending active duty & guard to the south border. It’s separate & a cost passed onto them out of pocket.
The 2-18 & 19 yo kids I spoke to said their newly issued 4 uniforms were shredded. If they’re not perfect, they can be & are disciplined. They were worried & their Xmas gifts were money to replace their uniforms.
Multiply this cost (5000) & again by the additional (4000) he’s now sending to the border for his manufactured crisis on the south border. Along with 800K furloughed govt employees, our military is paying for Trump’s vanity wall & military photo ops.
