Weissmann says that when SCO agreed to the plea deal with Manafort, they “were going in with good faith,” but “could not say at that point” whether he was being truthful or would be able to provide substantial assistance. Decision forced by imminent trial.

Weissmann says there were two unusual factors in the cooperation deal with Manafort.

One is "the intelligence that could be gathered from having a cooperating witness in this particular invesitgation."

Weisssmann says Manafort's history of telling "so many lies" was a factor in determining that he lied again during cooperation.

Manafort lawyer Richard Westling wants to make sure the court is aware of the "physical and emotional challenges" Manafort faced during his confinement.

Weissmann thinks Manafort "went out of his way" to "not want to provide any evidence that could be used with respect to" Konstantin Kilimnik.

Weissmann: Manafort's August 2, 2016 meeting with Kilimnik goes "very much to the heart of what the Special Counsel's Office is investigating."

"That meeting and what happened at that meeting is of significance to the special counsel."

Here is an unredacted mention of a "pardon" as a potential motive for Manafort.

SCO's Greg Andres: During cooperation, Manafort "constantly" minimized either "the information he has about the administration or any contact with the administration."

Andres then says that "there's an issue" about whether Manafort, while cooperating, communicated with (REDACTED), or was sharing information about things going on in the special counsel investigation.
