Compared to 2016, significantly fewer Americans feel that political violence is 'not at all' justified--with the largest decreases observed among liberals, democrats, moderates (wtf), and independents.
Results for Whites
Also consistent with the disparities I observed in a student sample
For some reason, this graph has me thinking of Ayer's summation of Weatherman philosophy (in the 70s): "Kill all the rich people. Break up their cars and apartments. Bring the revolution home, kill your parents, that's where it's really at." Let's hope that's not where we're at.
Update: the decrease in the proportion of Americans who feel that political violence is 'not at all' justified appears to be entirely driven by younger age categories. Thus, because Dems/Indeps tend to be younger than Republicans, we naturally observe diffs in the *aggregate*.
Now the interesting question is wtf is going on with our 'youth' (i.e. anyone younger than 50)?
(I apologize for only getting around to exploring this today. Had two comprehensive exams to get through this week)
