EU defense contractors will no longer have an automatic right to bid on defense and security contracts after 29 March under a no-deal Brexit. But all this stuff is tit-for-tat, so we can expect the door to slam on UK firms' participation in EU procurement.

Currently, we're the world's second largest defense exporter, and Europe's largest. But what will happen once we find our access to the EU market severely curtailed?

As for the £7 billion/year security market, half our exports currently go to Europe. Again, something that is likely to be dramatically affected once we're no longer on the inside for procurement contracts.

Here we go... Dyson axes 100 UK jobs. The cuts come a mere few weeks after announcing they were moving their HQ to Singapore. Not a Brexit poster child any more, eh!
Digging into it a bit more closely, it looks like the cuts were actually sneaked out mere days before the HQ move, so that the company could "truthfully" say "no jobs *will* be affected". Yeah, only because they already cleaned house just before going public with the news.

According to this new SI, US companies will have to update their privacy policies after a no-deal Brexit before it's legal for UK companies to transfer data to them (currently legal to transfer data to those participating in the EU Privacy Shield program.)

The Explanatory Memorandum claims "The only cost that UK business will incur is a small amount of additional procedure to check that their US counterpart has updated their privacy policy to include the UK under their Privacy Shield commitments."
Of course, as you've probably already spotted, that's absurd. Because the cost is potentially massive if they haven't. You'll either have to then persuade a company on the other side of the Atlantic to change its policy, or shop around for a different provider, move data etc.

Wouldn't it be fantastic if the Tory and Labour parties threw off the 80-ish most extreme MPs on each side, and merged into a Party of National Unity with a giant super-majority? It could then cancel Brexit, HS2 & Trident, and throw £100s of billions at hypercharging the economy.
Green electricity, smart cities, truly robust railways, Hyperloop, you name it. By slaying all 3 white elephants at once, there would be masses of funding to do all sorts of great things, and we could always borrow more and invest it wisely for a better future.
It could agree to stay together for two election cycles (ie ten years) and repair the damage from over half a century of neglect has inflicted on vital infrastructure, poorer regions, our housing stock, etc. Its final act would be to bring in proportional representation.

BREXIT PREDICTION THREAD: 1/ #BREXIT
2/ Mrs May will not be able to get the backstop removed from the WA. She will however get some additional promises and clarifications from the EU.
3/ This will not be enough to satisfy the DUP (what would be?) but many MPs, worried about impending no-deal brexit, will vote in favour of Mrs May's deal.

As a remainer I scratch my head as to why #Brexit continues to enjoy significant support despite overwhelming evidence its a really bad idea so thought I'd offer a psychological explanation for its appeal to some of its supporters which simply cannot lie in objective reality
I have no knowledge experience or professional qualifications in psychology whatsoever but as this is #brexit Britain this means I know more than professionals like @RichardBentall so offer my brexpertise on the psychological appeal of Brexit confident in my total ignorance
Being a Brexiter means being part of a huge crowd where not only are you all cheering for the same thing but this crowd permits and even encourages behaviour and attitudes which are normally forbidden and some brexiters at least feel liberated from decency and reason

Despite her #BREXIT deal being defeated by biggest margin a government has lost a vote ever maybot seeks concessions on backstop despite being told to bog off by the EU with no realistic hope of a different answer
Corbyn meanwhile refuses to talk #BREXIT without no deal being ruled out despite knowing she can't do this whilst maybot makes no concessions either.

"#Brexit and EU agencies", our extensive look into third country relationships of the 36 EU agencies and how the UK might fit in.

Albeit largely technical, agencies will have huge implications on Brexit.

Five points stand out in particular:
First, Agencies matter. Like the customs union, they are a technical aspect of the EU, that works and was thus hardly discussed in the UK before #Brexit.
But they are important for single market, but also justice and home affairs.

UK gov thus has already asked to continue participation in selected agencies, in particular in sectors important to the UK economy, like aviation, chemicals or pharma.

Jaguar Land Rover recently agreed 2 build a new plant in Slovakia with EU grant, owned by Tata, same company who trashed our steel industry & emptied workers pension funds.

British Army's new Ajax fighting vehicles to be built in SPAIN using SWEDISH steel at the request of the EU to support jobs in Spain with EU grant, rather than Wales.
