Hey @cityofmhk - I got tired of my kids’ walk to & from school looking like this 
So I figured on this nice, sunny snow day, we would learn about helping out our community, get some exercise, and do a little shoveling. We were about 2/3 done (a whopping 10 minutes of work, mind you) when a city employee came to inform us that we should stop. Seriously? I
That stretch of sidewalk has been treacherous for weeks. I know you have a system, but it’s obviously not working. Please do something to keep our kids safe, or at least leave us alone so we can do it ourselves.
The worker who stopped said a contractor may or may not be there later today, and that it would cost about $150 to finish what we’d started. Apparently our 10 minutes of work would have been worth $300 if we’d had the contract. Seriously?!?!
Update: miraculously, it's all cleared now. Apparently the potential loss of income from mom & 2 kids was enough to light a fire under the contractor 😂 I trust that the property owner will only be charged for the 1/3 we got chased off from!
