Juicy Seaborne Freight news nugget: "The contract awarded to Seaborne was part of a broader procurement exercise to secure additional freight capacity after Brexit, wherein NINE companies were approached and contracts were awarded to three." (my emphasis)

So Chris Grayling's department met with nine ferry companies, yet somehow one of the three contracts it ended up signing went to Seaborne Freight, despite about a trillion red flags, and after £800,000 of due diligence? What kind of a ship is he running at the DoT?!
And you have to wonder whether a friend-of-a-friend relationship applied somewhere down the line. It's very hard to see why Seaborne Freight could possibly have beaten 5 other "losing" applicants for a slot - unless they were even crazily less suited?

1. We need the EU more than the EU needs us. It will still have 27 members to trade with, and free trade deals with over 40 other countries, including Japan and Canada, with which to make up any economic loss. We will have nothing.
2. We have never truly understood the value of EU membership. That doesn't mean that it has no value, only that we've been too blind to see what was right under our noses. It's only now, when we're scrabbling to find fixes for everything we're about to lose, that the penny drops.
3. Brexit was about much more than economics, but that doesn't magically make the economic aspect of Brexit any less important. Our economy pays for EVERYTHING: free healthcare, schools, transport improvements, mental health care, help for homelessness, etc. etc. etc.

Why is it so hard to understand that our EU membership is worth much, much more than the £9 billion a year we pay for it? Single Market & Customs Union give us over £600 billion of trade without tariffs, and without non-tariffs barriers, neither of which would be true under WTO.
Free trade deals improve the trading conditions for £100s of billions more. UK citizens have the freedom to live, work, travel and get free or reduced healthcare in the EU. Border posts flow freely. Coach and rail travel is unimpeded. Professionals (doctors, lawyers, accountants,

1) history rewritten, how "No Deal" #Brexit came from nowhere to be official brexiter policy

The brexit process has given us a remarkable insight into how history can be rewritten

Everyone apparently voted for no deal brexit even though it was rarely mentioned pre referendum
2) Firstly, the Brexit sold in the referendum was "Cost free cakeism" Brexit. Vote leave might promote Norway or other versions as temporary examples but basically, it was going to be easy, we held all the cards and they needed us more than we needed them
3) it is truly *bizarre* that brexit supporters forget this.
"We knew it would be difficult/costly/disruptive" is a constant comment on Twitter

How? Because certainly no leave leader said it would be & the constant image was a £350 M bonus for the NHS
