Today’s election is shaping up to be the bloodiest, most brazenly monetized, and most explicitly fraudulent presidential election in Nigeria's entire history. There is frankly no reason to be hopeful about Nigeria. I give up,
although I've said that in the past many times. Except for my extended family members and my friends who are still in Nigeria, I have no personal stake in the country anymore. That's why when I get illiterate taunts from headless Buharist buffoons that I'd squirm in pain when
Buhari is announced winner of this election, I laugh. I live in a country where I don’t have to worry about electricity and other basic necessities of life. My kids go to the best schools for free. I have a permanent, lifetime, tenured employment with no retirement age, and can
choose to live here for the rest of my life because my children won't even go back to Nigeria. So the outcome of the election has no bearing on me whatsoever. It's precisely these same deranged idiots who are hypnotized by the murderous, empty-headed, vindictive old thug called
Muhammadu Buhari that will suffer the consequences of another four years of his misrule and directionlessness. I'll watch from the sidelines as the geriatric, airheaded criminal smolders the nation in the coming years. But I'll do so with a lot of empathy for people who truly
don't deserve Buhari as president. It's because of people like that some of us who have no personal dog in the Nigerian fight throw ourselves out there. If it were possible for Buharists to be isolated to suffer the consequences of their support for him, it would have been sweet

Well, Buhari is neither trustworthy nor strong. He is weak, untrustworthy, immoral, and unjust. No good Muslim should ever elect a man like him. But for many, the religion is only a ritual and a marker of identity; its moral precepts aren't internalized.

This election is increasingly shaping up to be between an Atiku, pro-business and small government, on one hand, and Buhari, hostile to business, pro-big-government on the other hand.

It is also a referendum on the incumbent, Buhari. No matter how his acolytes try to spin it.
For a brief moment, let's talk about Buhari's acolytes and how most are coming out as statist and hostile to business, of course taking their cue from their leader, and herein lies one of the things that bothers me.

In the past, many of these same people were pro-business.
When you look at the APC's manifesto from 2015, while there were a lot of socialist platitudes inside, the core of it, at least the segment done by the ACN wing of the APC, had a pro-business bent to it.

So how did people who were pro-business suddenly make a 180 degree turn?

Yesterday, I saw a tweet by @BudgITng ranking Osun State 35th State in Nigeria based on the Fiscal sustainability index.

Unlike the saying that the person on the floor does not need to fear downfall, Osun State was 36th in 2017 and needs to be worried.
Fiscal sustainability is the ability of a government to sustain its current spending, tax and other policies in the long run without threatening government solvency or defaulting on some of its liabilities or promised expenditures. You can say it's a measure of going concern
