To those attacking @IlhanMN - ask yourselves: is there any way she could communicate her political views - so critical of/hostile to Israel, supportive of BDS - that you wouldn’t see as anti-Semitic, if not in tone/wording, then in content?

Be honest, at least with yourselves.

As Jews, many of us are highly sensitive to the tiniest hint of what feels like anti-Semitism - understandably.

But let’s all be honest: the ultra sensitively here is because of who @IlhanMN is and what she represents - a Muslim woman who is critical of Israel.

It is just bizarre to even have to say this, especially after 8 years of watching self-appointed defenders of Israeli try to tarnish Barack Obama as anti-Semitic. Over and over and over.

And it is just bizarre to have to say this, when we see over and over to the backdrop of the long-standing and stunning tolerance for anti-Semitism when it comes from sources viewed by the machers as friends of Israel.

And it is stunning to have to make this point in an era when it is somehow ok- or at worst a minor sin - for people to call US Jews kapos - so long as the machers deem the name-callers pro-Israel and question the pro-Israel bona fides of those being attacked.

And it is downright bizarre to have to make this point when Congress & state legislatures are giving greater weight to the views of those who want to shield Israel from criticism/pressure than they are giving to the freaking ACLU.

Dayenu! Whatever your flavor of opposing @IlhanMN - own it!

If you dislike/mistrust her for
-her views on Israel-Palestine
-her support for BDS
-the fact that she’s Muslim

OWN IT.

And then you can stop parsing her every word to find proof o what you already believe is true.
