nancy broke what was left of his brain
trump’s entire life has been a giant cycle of careening from old self-created crisis to new self-created crisis, perpetually evading consequences by funneling all attention & energy into the newest craziest thing but by shutting down the govt. he broke his own escape mechanism
he cannot evade the previous crisis until the govt. comes back online, which means he’s forced into the most unfamiliar and terrifying position of being forced to face consequences
the tried and true trick of just creating a new crisis to get out of the last one is utterly useless because the govt. lock out *is* the crisis - he’s either gotta fix it, or utterly and totally capitulate
