As we know, University costs have skyrocketed above inflation. Administrator ranks have ballooned. Student Debt has become non-dischargeable. Adjunct & Student labor have exploded. ETC.

I took the leading research institutions of North America as members of the @AAUniversities, threw in a few institutions like the @theNASciences & @the_IAS, and asked the birth year of the leader in each case.
It's insane. This is essentially now a *pure* generational effect:

When I asked you the other day what the most prestigious research institution was headed by someone younger than the Baby Boomers, the answer was likely, the University of Virginia. That and Missouri are the *only* two I could find with Generation X Leaders.
