2. Pelosi and Schumer picked Stacey Abrams -- who lost her election -- for the SOTU rebuttal, instead of AOC, Tlaib or Omar -- who had won their elections -- because Pelosi and Schumer knew that the latter three were loose cannons who refuse to control their tongues.

1. Elder blood libels my tribe -- the Luo tribe of Kenya -- for the umpteenth time. I have sent him the truth about it many times, but he ignores it.

3. I was an active opponent of BHO well before his first election, in spite of our tribal connection. But I deep resented the lies fabricated about the Luo. Like most big lies, however, the bullshit spread like wildfire.

I know I am in the minority on a lot, so probably here too—I think the principal players in the ShepCon Q&A did what they needed to do and that will make people who don’t agree unhappy. None of it was surprising to me and was actually pretty consistent w/ each’s M.O.
While I disagree w/ Mohler’s views on church & culture (justice being a subset), I don’t see anything wrong w/ him choosing & defending his own strategy for addressing this issue. His angle was political in a legit sense of that term (stewardship of influence & power).
Duncan articulated a theological strategy aimed at applying Bible to all problems so Scriptural authority is set as the standard and leaders have credible integrity. A basically good strategy, but may be better fitted for the academy than current ecclesiastical landscape.

I'm saddened to hear of the passing of Tony Mendez, CIA officer in OTS through the most bitter decades of the Cold War. In this thread, I'm going to tell the funny story of the time I met Tony and his wife Jonna at CIA family day 2014.

The year was 2014. It was September, and It was a weird year for my family and I that was full of stress and change.
CIA family day was taking place under director @JohnBrennan, and I was taking my family around to see all of the open booths manned by agency employees showing off their extremely niche skills. Before you ask, yes, this is a real thing that happens.

As a former journalist and a researcher of the relationship between #news and #socialmedia, I think I understand both sides of the argument over whether tonight's presidential address should be carried live. A few thoughts. #Thread
It's important to look at the decision in itself. Even if you think it violates precedent, and therefore is hypocritical, it may be that the previous decisions were the wrong ones and shouldn't be repeated.
For example, if I used to throw my trash out the car window, arguing that it kept prisoners busy doing litter pickup, that's clearly stupid. If I now know it's dumb and stop doing it, that is a greater good than my being consistent by still doing it.
