"Karen Bradley doesn't understand the history of Northern Ireland ... She is not fit to be Secretary of State". This is a devastating interview with former ombudsman Baroness Nuala O'Loan on @BBCWorldatOne.
Theresa May can't duck her own responsibility here. This is what happens when you appoint a Secretary of State with no understanding of Northern Ireland's history, at an exceptionally delicate moment in the peace process. theguardian.com/politics/2018/…
Throughout the twentieth century, British governments were often staggeringly disengaged from and ignorant about what was happening in Northern Ireland. That changed radically under John Major and Tony Blair, but complacency has set in - and that bodes very ill for the future.
