I understand the argument that we can’t respond to the Republican assault on democracy by breaking the system too.

What I don’t understand is saying we shouldn’t even use the tools we have.

We can fight fair and still fight like hell.
The Watergate hearings had a huge impact on public opinion.

So what if Dems had decided to wait for strong public consensus before starting those hearings?
Don’t underestimate the ability of impeachment proceedings to affect public opinion. Most Americans don’t trust or like him. We can put the most damning evidence on the front page, day after day.
The public’s getting almost all its information on Trump’s scandals through the press. That’s the same filter that kept Trump in the race in 2016. Better to give the public more information directly.
