too early for Peppers tape thread? #GiantsPride
First Note: #DawgPound you guys will absolutely NOT miss all the base personnel from Williams, right? My god dude loves 3 LBers. I get that blitz looks can be a little more multiple but...
2nd Note: My gut says that Bettch will want to mix Peppers to BOTH BS and */NB to the field (Haley's role) to some teams. He is very active and comfortable in space with twitch that both is calming yet would make caffeine nervous, if that makes sense #GiantsPride
Play 1: Athleticism/Nose For Ball
This is the most solid hit I have seen on Kamara this year. He is incredibly shifty. Peppers reads run, squeezes his gap and flows to hole, squares and delivers on 3rd down. This is impressive, +lateral agility, +closure +physical #GiantsPride
Play 2: Nose for Ball
Love the play speed seeing his man block and immediately fills a gap. Some like to say "instincts." Great pad level and body control staying low to finish against a good ball carrier. Does anyone else hear Don Brown's voice on this play? #GiantsPride
Play 3: Blitz Factor
1st thing that has to be highlighted is burst, he gets down hill VERY fast. Fluid movement, ability to read pass sets and just raw speed. These backside blitzes can be effective vs. Zone REad teams as well, JP gives you that type of flexibility #GiantsPride
Play 4: Play Speed
I am gonna say that 100x in the next few months. Peppers has a high FBI level, and it translates to play speed recognizing Jailbreak Screen to 2. Part of this is play call, but the other part is playing fast and getting the ball on the ground. #GiantsPride
Play 5: Setting edge vs G Lead
Peppers (5-11 211 lbs) w/no hesitation to downblock, & takes on pulling G Marpet(#legit) w/leverage, power, forces RB back inside for the safety. JP plays w/ a high level of physicality & understanding of the fit. (not on box score) #GiantsPride
Play 5: Comfortable in the Deep Half
Imagine for a second JP as FS is not playing at Greg Williams +19 (thats real) depth. ++Click and close reading QB release. His versatility is not a fake, his range is impressive. #GiantsPride
Play 6: Press Coverage
REALLY like JP in press. vs Howard, keeps shoulders square & patient, but LOVE this rep bc he gets out of phase, but does NOT panic, recovering to near hip and DOES NOT TURN around (good thing), plays through catch point for PBU #GiantsPride
Play 7: Press Coverage
Vs Howard as Lone X in 3x1. Love how his hands are more active than his feet at snap. Off-hand jam not as effective as he wanted, but manages to get back in-phase. TE waits to show catch point and perf throw leads to catch .Cant win them all #GiantsPride
Play 8: Recovery
This is kind of cool. at LOS reads slow flow away (play-action, then believe this is form of C2 Invert where he has the flat (CB rolls to Deep 1/2), and JP has awareness to to recover and get to TE in flat immediately & finish physically...++FBI #GiantsPride
Play 9: Use of Hands (UoH)
Jamming big TEs is not easy. This is a great rep, vs Howard at 3 and times the snap perf w/double stab to upper half. TB is running Double China, and Howard cant recover from stem to break and 1st Option is taken away #GiantsPride #notonStatSheet
Play 10: Physicality
Key play in the game, trying to make a play, defense blitzes w/form of C4 Poach behind it. JP reads 3's Seam Route and delivers the legal blow, This part of the game has gone away, but this dude brings it #BeTheHammer #GiantsPride
Play 11: Blitzing
vs. KC Blitzes from5t, draws RB in pass pro, like the body control and agility to take on the blocker and then the motor to spin recenter and find the QBs hand for pass deflection. Technique/motor plays a big factor, time in Michigan a big help #GiantsPride
Play 12: Angles from FS
Williams put him at FS for most of this game. KC runs Speed Option ITB, like JP's angle vs. speed willing to compete at the sticks & make the RB be athletic. The versatility is real #GiantsPride
Play 13: Angles from FS
Williams blitzes from the bound, must be some sort of miscom w/a low Hole Rat in C1 and RB left uncovered on a Swing Route. FS Peppers reads/reacts, again w/ a good angle and the athleticism to get pads on thighs along the side line. #GiantsPride
Play 14: vs Kelce as C2 S
KC in 3x1 w/Kelce as X, Peppers basically 1v1 in space vs. Copper Route (nice eyes in fake). This is a "loss" but remains square as long as he can to the break, actually manages to undercut just needs a few more inches at the catch point #GiantsPride
Play 15: Playing the Edge
OZ Force from DEN (his best game, u'll see why), and he bowling balls himself passed the reach and into the FB forcing the RB's path to pursuit. He regularly sacrifices his body #GiantsPride
Play 16: as Flat Defender
Said Play Speed would be mentioned often, JP passes off the TE's under, and adjusts on the fly in the flat not losing leverage to WR's speed via play recognition. Great finish as well, TFL #GiantsPride
Play 17: Sure Tackler When it Counts
Honestly there were so many plays where he is making key stops at the sticks. Reads the Pin Pull toss played very well by his teammates then understands his role as Force can make a physical statement. 4th down #GiantsPride
Play 18: Range from MOF S/High Point
I mean just a great read and go make a play on the ball from the MOF S area on a deep route #GiantsPride
Play 19: Blitz/Sack to end the Game
This I think is a Green Dog blitz where he adds in to the TE blocking. They BTF'd any motion into the box w/JP at the LOS for most of the game. His speed/closure makes him a big difference maker #GiantsPride
