(POLL) I need your advice: some people like the new profile pic, and think I should keep it; some like it but think it doesn't fit the content of the feed; some don't like it and think it doesn't fit the content of the feed. Which category are you in, if I can ask? Poll is below:
Whoa... OK. This seems to be the most divisive thing ever posted on my feed. Right now it's running 52% keep, 48% change, almost like presidential election results in terms of closeness. Those who like it seem to love it; those who want it gone think it could bring down the feed.
If the vote stays this way, my thinking is this: I put it on Instagram as my avatar (IG: [@]seth.abramson). This is certainly my favorite profile pic since I've been on Twitter, but ultimately the ethos of this feed has always been that the fight takes precedence over everything.

This exchange between Don Lemon and Chris Cuomo is really a big deal, because it represents a larger conversation we need to have. I've often been on CNN's air, and I've *never* lied there and never would nor—to be clear—have I ever even evaded a question.
1/ Chris is wrong to attack Maddow; his attack was unfounded. It's the format of her show that limits the number of guests. In Chris's case, his motto is "let's get after it"; that's *literally something that cannot be done* with someone who lies and evades like Kellyanne Conway.
2/ There are 3 levels to look at here:

(1) A GUEST LIES. You don't bring them on if they do it even twice.
(2) A GUEST EVADES. If it becomes a pattern, you don't bring them on.
(3) A GUEST GIVES AN ANSWER YOU DON'T LIKE. That's life, deal with it.

Cable news needs to grok this.

We should clarify that at the beginning of an investigation there's proof of criminal activity at a reasonable suspicion or probable cause level—depending on if it's an investigayive stop or an actual/intended seizure of a person/property—but not proof beyond a reasonable doubt.
1/ Having said this, it is *also* true that law enforcement can begin investigating someone *whenever it feels like it*, even with no proof whatsoever, up until the point it initiates a constitutional "event" like a stop, search, or seizure. People need to understand this point.
2/ The Mueller investigation was merely an extension of the investigation Comey was overseeing in 2016 and 2017—which began when *five European intelligence agencies* informed federal law enforcement that Trump aides were having suspicious meetings with foreign nationals abroad.

On a personal note, to readers, I want to say this: every time all of major media declares Mueller is done and I dissent because my research says they're wrong, it's terrifying to be an independent journalist in that position. It'd be so much easier to just *agree* with everyone.
1/ I mention this because, in addition to being wrong countless times since 2017 about Mueller's end-date, major media—and this seems cruel to me—has *also* sought to discredit those who dissented (and were right) as cranks. No—it was *terrifying* to diverge from popular thought.
2/ We've already seen that @KenDilanianNBC faces no consequences for being paid a full-time salary to use bad sources on Mueller's end-date and be wrong about it. Independent journalists can readily feel—and I hate it—like major media is waiting for one mistake to discredit you.

A common question I get while discussing the idea of TWATW and TMATM is “but if we give an inch, won’t they take a mile? How do we prevent that?”

And this question makes me really sad. Because if we have to ask this, it means we don’t really understand how to use boundaries.
Boundaries are very important in any relationship. If you have a friendship that’s based on only giving to someone else, or only taking, that can never be healthy in the long run. It doesn’t matter what kind of relationship it is.
The relationship between trans people and the rest of humanity is no different. Right now, we’re in an abusive relationship. Trans people are doing all the taking, and demanding more and more. And everyone else, being nice, has been trying to solve the problem by giving.
