On a personal note, to readers, I want to say this: every time all of major media declares Mueller is done and I dissent because my research says they're wrong, it's terrifying to be an independent journalist in that position. It'd be so much easier to just *agree* with everyone.
1/ I mention this because, in addition to being wrong countless times since 2017 about Mueller's end-date, major media—and this seems cruel to me—has *also* sought to discredit those who dissented (and were right) as cranks. No—it was *terrifying* to diverge from popular thought.
2/ We've already seen that @KenDilanianNBC faces no consequences for being paid a full-time salary to use bad sources on Mueller's end-date and be wrong about it. Independent journalists can readily feel—and I hate it—like major media is waiting for one mistake to discredit you.
3/ Even in light of so much news today devastating to media's claims Mueller is almost done—Chris Cuomo last night said Mueller is definitely "just writing his report now"—I'm not going to turn around and make predictions. Predictions are the problem—I'll only try to offer facts.
4/ Before today's Gates news, and today's Manafort news, I wrote the thread below. I *continue to challenge major media* to answer *any* of these questions in their inexplicable rush to declare the Mueller investigation over (what drives that, by the way?)
5/ And by the way, I was serious when I said at the end of the embedded thread in Tweet #4 that I didn't list *all* the questions major media must answer. For instance, we learned recently that Mueller is FULLY FUNDED THROUGH SEPTEMBER. That fact is a noteworthy data-point, also.
6/ I mention—in the embedded thread in Tweet #4—that I've "already addressed" the recent departure of Andrew Weissmann (one of Mueller's 13 remaining prosecutors). For those who missed it, you can find my thoughts and analysis on that in the thread below:
