One thing I find super weird about Twitter is the way some folks act like one tweet they don’t like from someone tells them EVERYTHING about that person after reading 10,000 others.
That’s not about me BTW. Just saw a flouncy unfollow on my TL about one pretty benign tweet and disagreement over a topic not remotely relevant to the accounts usual stuff.

Twitter is such a weird place.
(A flouncy unfollow of someone else... someone I follow.)
p.s. a “flounce” is a dramatic exit from an online forum.

Pub update.

One barkeep, apparently wishing to seem St. Patricks-y while having no acquaintance with the Irish, is dressed in a jaunty seaman’s cap.

It has a distinctive Captain and Tennille flair to it.

There is a decent chance I will be wearing that cap at some point.

...and then I blocked out while consumed with the impulse to adopt the proper posture of a classic Irish pugilist.

The way people are reacting to the shooting, the analysis, and the meta-analysis tells you everything you need to know about them.

It was the same after Tree of Life, too.

You can see who the bad ones are.

You can and should eradicate them from your life.
Connection requires having a shared humanity and when people show you that they share none of your humanity you’re under no obligation to keep them in your life.

They are manipulating you because that’s what this is all about. Manipulation.
Everything the right is doing, from the extremely-online bullshit to the boomers who think it’s a good idea to show up to a vigil with a caravan draped in “build the wall” decor, is about pushing you and pushing you to see how much of their hate they can get away with around you.

Murders were a terrible, tragic, shabby thing. Terrible, tragic, shabby things didn't happen to famous people. Well, Natalie Wood had drowned a decade before but as far as we knew then, it was an accident. This, clearly, was not.

The meme of the American GI bursting into the Nazi death camps of the Holocaust and "saving" people even as they took horrible pictures of them and "revealing to the world this evil" is a very big staple of Holocaust memory, but it is only partially true as we find from a US doc
He *couldn't* save people and wept for 40 years, broken at the memory of a little girl who died and hundreds more, with his family hating him as his soul was poisoned & only his little grandson to hear the story. Horrible!
