Cancer centres were reporting "dire" staffing levels with more than 50% of vacant posts being empty for 1yr+.

Almost 1,000 people are diagnosed with cancer every day. Demand for radiotherapy is rising by 2% pa while demand for chemotherapyq by 4% a year. news.sky.com/story/cancer-d…
Cutting-edge cancer therapies - such as immunotherapy & proton beam therapy - may not be delivered to all those who could benefit without more investment

It pointed to "clear evidence of increased stress & burnout" among doctors due to taking on extra work to plug workforce gaps
Hardly any wonder that life expectancy compared to 2015 to 2018 has dropped by 13m for men and 14m for women.

We need to stop Brexit right now and have a serious talk as a nation as Brexit may well be the death of you.

You have a Government that has misled Parliament and is setting fire to our country in the process. It said it WOULD seek a long extension if the WA ot passed.

And you WANT the Tory whip?
This is a Gov without honour or care.
2/. Here is Lidington spelling out not only that the gov would seek a long extension if the WA was not passed prior to the EU Council, but that a short extension would be contrary to the resolution passed by the house the night before as it would INCREASE the risk of NO Deal

Today I’m going on a tour of @NHSBT’s facility at Colindale. It’s an unprepossessing building in north London, but fascinating and unique things go on inside to produce blood products that save lives every single day. #BloodMatters #GiveBlood A low-rise building with white and blue glass panelling and cars parked outside, it looks like any other building in any business park in England... but what’s inside?
This mysterious place that is the fount of all blood.
“We need four units, please”
“they’re coming... from *Colindale*”

The first stage of blood safety is donor selection, followed by processing, testing, storage, patient management and surveillance.

Donor selection means every year 100,000 people drop out of the donor population (health reasons, age, self-removal) and need replacing.

Filing columns from hospital beds is exhausting.
Once, when I was at @PhillyDailyNews, before email was a thing, I wrote my copy long-hand from the ICU. That story, about the ICU, was later nom'd for Pulitzer, but all I remember was thinking those might be my last written words.

1. I never want to hear of another child being shot and killed in America. (or anywhere) At the same time I don't believe in retracting or abolishing the 2A, or disarming law abiding gun owners. I believe children deserve the right to be safe from gun violence.
2. As an American, I'm perplexed. The freedoms I cherish as an American recently seem dubbed as a blueprint worthy of rearranging by one side in the equation, and worthy of fighting for by another side in the equation. The division is real and unrelenting. But.. so is the fear.
3. Again, I never want to discuss disarming American civilians. Only because I know the majority of legal gun owners would have gave their lives to defend any one of the victims, and still would defend human life today, in the event of another tragedy. Why disarm good people?

So, a couple of thoughts on why Russia even does this. We've sort of accepted that they do it "because Russia," but that's not enough. /1
There was a time when post-Communist Russia and the West were, if not friends, at least not enemies. Putin, a man of the Soviet system, seemed to be part of that for a time. /2
Whether he was always a just a KGB stooge, or made a run at being a more democratic leader and failed is irrelevant. This is now a Soviet mafia state. /3
