I have read the account of many notable Nigerians while narrating their ordeals in their schools days. Many would say they were given humbling stipends on the monthly but they kept forgetting that we are not all as blessed as they were. Some of us got nothing.
When I made it into Yabatech having turned down 3 different University admissions for hopeless courses against my wish. I had to embrace the Polytechnic alternative that mirrors my desire at least leaving room for me to do that which I enjoy. Mum wasn’t pleased...
...but I kept reminding her that she can’t succeed at living her life through mine. I told her I was going to be fine. I was earning already and had a registered business making money on the side with loads of clientele on the Graphic Art side of things.
I made Cards for all occasions. My lyrics were one in town. People who got their chicks hooked with my cards had to subscribe for a life-time to maintain such relationships. So I was always in business in and out of season. Those cards made sense even though I was single.
Suffice to say, I was a Pimp in disguise. Lending my lyrics to men who can hardly find words once swept off their feet by a damsel. Thank God for Jesus. But I digress...

The entitlement paralysis seem to have been ingrained in us just as cultured in our parents.
This may be responsible for the village of indolent 30-40year olds you see laying about seeking a miraculous jackpot around politicos. The passion for work sublimes once they taste the goodness of the lucre in the corridor of power. Then they begin to live for the money.
From experience, dependency is never a value proposition. You will be like the salt that has lost its savor. People who once rejoiced at your presence will have their countenance disturbed if all they do when they see you is dread your next demand or story that justifies aids.
So Distinguished, this is about believing in yourself & cultivating the habit of being value oriented. Be known for something no one can do without in your circle. Be someone others can’t imagine not having around. Find something U love & are best at. Something U can be paid for.
The Government of the day will be tightening the noose, hoping to reduce majority of the population to their primal state with hardship in abject poverty. People you least expect will beg for N1k. Hard times are ahead. Be a man/woman of value.
You beat poverty by guarding your heart from swallowing the pill, that makes you justify poverty as a virtue, as peddled by evil merchants of Hell wearing a Cassock. Find purpose and be relevant in society. This is how we unite our forces & embrace or diversity.
Stop expecting to be employed when you are just the missing piece of the puzzle to Nigeria’s becoming. Stop waiting for VoterMoni or TraderMoni which are mere devices to buy your soul and chain you mentally. Don’t let anyone culture your indolence while weaponizing poverty.
You can do and be a lot more than the shortcuts you are seeking. America did not get to where they are with their work force hunting down sanitary pads and ladies panties just to acquire a BENZ (still don’t know the scientific explanation behind this theory).
Indolence has been crowned to be a sport to the point that our youth can’t imagine their lives without handouts. Anyone they see making a life through intellectual work is deemed a fraud because they simply can’t explain or perceive the justification of the confidence to thrive.
Things are getting worse on the side of responsibility. People with political power in a kakistocracy don’t think about the people but themselves and how to break the spirit of the people & reduce them to Baal worshippers for a token as reward. Don’t be their Serf.
My thoughts became things as soon as if found synchrony with my subconscious (Godself). Impossible became I’m Possible. Despite the gory tales of Yaba School Of tension we graduated with first class & even crossed over to Unilag breaking the jinx. Faith+Work Work Wonders.
Be fearless in the pursuit of what sets your soul on fire. You have always done thrived even before you were conscious (in your spermatozoa state). How dare anyone call you lazy or a failure when you beat thousands in your unconscious state to the egg! 🤔
No doubt some people will die poor. This is not a curse but consequence of their own action. People cross your path for a purpose & if managed well, you may soon find out why. But cursing out people U see as threats instead of destiny helpers is you cursing yourself to damnation.
