In the meeting between Free Joseon and FBI, U.S. officials would've been interested in the computers and documents taken from the North Korean embassy that could provide insight into Kim Hyok Chol, North Korea's nuclear talks negotiator who used to work there.
the incentive for Free Joseon to work with FBI is less clear. Meeting with US authorities is likely to alarm North Korea even more, but it could also afford the group some protection. The group, like the US, is also opposed to the Kim regime, but the nuke talks complicate things
Clearly Free Joseon is not worried about angering the DPRK. The video they released shows one of its members destroying portraits of North Korea’s founder, Kim Il Sung, and his son and successor, Kim Jong Il. That's punishable by death
The statement from the FBI is notable in stressing the bureau's "strong working relationship with our Spanish law enforcement partners." It will be interesting if Spanish authorities stop anonymously implicating the CIA in the Feb. 22. Presumably FBI is sharing what they learned
