(The full impact won't show for a while yet, because many taxes are collected in arrears - some quite a lot later.)
And that's only the tippy tip of the iceberg of damage Brexit is already inflicting on the UK.

Brexit has caused massive fault lines to appear in both the Tory and Labour parties, but different scenarios are likely to impact them to a greater or lesser extent.

No deal Brexit cracks both open like a nut, but the Tories probably come out of it with more damage than Labour.
A soft Brexit splits the Tories, but wouldn't bother Labour so much.

A pre-Brexit snap GE would be disastrous for Labour because it would lead to internal civil war over what Brexit stance to take. Tories as the party of Brexit are less affected.
Revoking Article 50 and staying hurts Labour, but destroys the Tories.

A post-Brexit GE hurts the Tories (because stuff will have gone wrong, and blame game in full swing) but probably unites Labour, since the concern over which Brexit stance to adopt will be gone.

Theresa May has singlehandedly radicalised millions of Remainers with her rock-solid inability to compromise on Brexit in any way, shape or form.

Looking back at the morning of the referendum result. I'd been up all night, watching the result come in, ageing at a year an hour.
Then David Dimbleby pronounced the final verdict, like a doctor communicating a terminal illness.

I was shocked. Utterly blank. I cried. The rest of the day passed in zombie mode, not least because of the all-nighter (note to self: what's ok as a student isn't 25 years later.)
I was angry. Confused. Lost. But after a while I started to think about the future. My Norwegian friend seems to do OK - perhaps if the UK could be like Norway it wouldn't be too bad.

Then the red lines came in. And the interminable circular speeches.

Brexit has shown there are genuinely decent upstanding Tories, just as it has revealed the responsible adults in Labour and other parties. But I can't help but direct my ire at the Tory Party because they are the Government. The situation is too dire for nuance.
So to the decent MPs, I say this gently: When you look in the mirror, if you think, however fleetingly "I feel ashamed to be a Tory right now" why not DO something about it? There has never been a more propitious time to gather with like-minded souls regardless of old allegiances
Tear down the system, and build something new and wonderful in its place. A new kind of politics, driven by outcomes not by rigid party structures, in which collaboration and opposition come on a policy by policy basis, not as a matter of rigid obligation. If not now, when?

On Labour/second referendum: Corbyn seen in Europe as convinced
eurosceptic so EU is sceptical of his backing a second referendum. EU
has watched #Brexit turmoil long enough to see huge complications in
holding the vote and realise many leave voters have changed their
mind. /2
Of course EU would still rather UK stayed but Europe's leaders don't
see this as realistically on the cards right now. Most realistic,
considering turmoil in Westminster, says EU council President Tusk:
would be to extend article 50 leaving process. /3

1. There is a goliath dishonesty afoot among the leave camp that I want no part of. Everyone from Gisela Stuart through to Spiked Online, CrapX and John Redwood are pretending that anything that isn't no deal is not #Brexit. This is a sickening lie.
2. International relations are a rich tapestry of agreements ranging from exchange of letters through to mutual recognition agreements through to formal MoUs and FTAs. Nobody deals one default terms alone.
3. To that that end every nation on earth has binding obligations both with trading partners and international organisations on everything from fishing to space policy. Everything functions on integrated systems of rules.

2) Why is the end result of Brexit this ridiculous fudge? What went wrong? The answer is simple - it wasn't May, or the EU, or the establishment, or filthy Remainers - it was Gove, Johnson, Stuart & all the happy clappy Vote Leave/Leave.EU crowd who ensured it would fail.
3) it wasn't just the £350m on the Bus, it was the consistent Brexit hyping - Brexit would be easy, they needed us more than we needed them, we'd get full access to the SM whilst leaving it, we had a massive defecit, of course the EU would do a deal
