Duke University settles a suit for knowingly supplying falsified data for federal research grants.

If you don't know, Duke is under investigation for investing money in off-shore sources to fund mining activities in Brazil. Brazil's former President was arrested last week for his role in bribery for mineral & oil rights cases. #ButNothingsHappening dukechronicle.com/article/2017/1…
They didn't have a huge stake in the business, but it exposed their practice of off-shoring money to avoid tax implications. 
Their investment in the mining company caused concerns after it caused environmental damage & an incident with 12 fatalities.
Expect to learn that at many universities, members of the board & trustees steer investments into hedge funds they or their friends control. Then try to launder the money around to avoid tax implications. #ButNothingsHappening
Of course it's only natural that people who want everyone else paying higher taxes, feel a fiduciary duty to evade taxes for the university!
Huh, their company they invested in is even doing business in Darfur. The Duke Trustees suddenly wake up & recognize that it looks like they are laundering money to avoid taxes from profits on conflict mining operations!
Ah, the off shore shell companies are all about making sure the folks running Duke have plausible deniability as to what conflicts their endowment are funding!
