Last night was talking to a neighbor in a bad spot. She said ‘I hate that I was that way, I’m not a bad person but now everyone thinks I am’. I said I didn’t think so, that I knew she was upset & was actually better than her actions but that after a while you are what you do...
We talked about her work and kids. And financial troubles (can’t stress that enough for neighbors where a fine or bail is a gut shot). And she said the oddest thing to me as we went to jail cuz we couldn’t work around that destination...
She said ‘I’m sorry people judge you as bad cuz you’re a cop’. I said it’s ok cuz there’s too many bad cops. We just sat in silence for a second & we both said to the other ‘we’re not so bad’ and then laughed. I work to help my neighbors no matter the situation. They’re the point
