As time goes on, the idea that Russian info ops are in any way more threatening or successful than Qatari or Chinese info ops in the US just doesn’t stand up to any scrutiny.

A comparison between Russian, Chinese and Qatari efforts would be a fun project.
Of course, there’s money involved in both; when you’re dealing with rich & assertive nations, it’s unavoidable.

But I’ve long thought it’s fascinating that—with as big of a threat (or at least subject) that China is—there is almost nobody in DC working full-time on the issue.
Paul Singer and others have paid for dozens of people to work on Russia. It’s not necessarily a bad thing, but you’d think 1 or 2 billionaire donors would be interested in funding China stuff. Seems like no.
I think when you’re at the level of putting up money for a think tank or other kinds of operations, the likelihood that you’ve got no ties to China—and the Chinese government, by extension—is so minuscule. Why rock the boat?
