This story was one of the most embarrassing of Trump/Russia. @Sulliview uncritically accepted @emptywheel's outlandish justification for proactively burning a source to the FBI, which was framed as noble and brave rather than an extreme ethical violation washingtonpost.com/lifestyle/styl…
Wheeler makes the crazy claim that she was *at risk of being killed* by unknown Russians because of the private bombshell info she supposedly possessed, and @Sulliview gives this credence. Can we get an update please? Who were these murderous Trump/Russia hit squads?
Sullivan acknowledges that proactively burning a source to the FBI would blatantly violate a core tenet of any journalists' ethical duty. But then she barely bothers to probe Marcy's incendiary reasoning. She's treated as valorous, rather than inherently suspect.
Despite repeatedly dropping cryptic hints that Mueller would issue conspiracy indictments related to Marcy's supposed bombshell info, and berating anyone who asked her to elaborate, Marcy has STILL not given out any more details about this insane episode
And indeed, Marcy now admits that the FBI may have just simply "decided she is crazy" (her words). So what gives, @Sulliview? Don't you have an obvious obligation to correct this?
Despite all this, Marcy was touted as one of the top journalistic experts on Trump/Russia, everywhere from the NYT (where she contributed columns without disclosing her compromised status: nytimes.com/2019/02/28/opi…) and MSNBC, where there was also no disclosure. Total lunacy.
