In addition to obscure funding, it’s worth noting that (for a self-styled grass roots campaigning organisation) it’s oddly obscure who takes the key policy decisions at @the_tpa and to whom they are accountable.
You’d expect a “grassroots campaign” to have some form of visible internal democracy. But no evidence of that on taxpayersalliance.com. No explanation of who chooses “the team” or how policy is determined.
Who decides, for example, whether @the_tpa is going to campaign against the amount of money spent on “no deal” preparations? Or against abuse of charitable status?
This claim from their website prompts a “physician, heal thyself” reflection.
And, as @jk_rowling once wrote: “Never trust anything that can think for itself, if you can’t see where it keeps its brain.”
