@PaulGrandy4 1/ Dear Paul;

I grew up in an overtly racist province - but it was religious bigotry that was more obvious.

I live in an urban centre with a relatively high proportion of Indigenous people. I see racism against them - and the effects of racism against them.

Alberta was home
@PaulGrandy4 2/ to Aryan Nations (Terry Long) and Jim Kiegstra. The submissions to the government's IRPA Review Panel revealed serious and widespread racism, homophobia and hatred of non-Christians. People recommended forced labour and death camps.

If you aren't seeing racism in Canada,
@PaulGrandy4 3/ chances are it's right in front of you but you don't know what it looks like.
Remember, the last residential school closed in 1996. Read the TRC Report.
Check out the experiences of visual minorities and things like @thelipscombe's #Makeitawkward campaign.
The first step
@PaulGrandy4 @thelipscombe 4/ toward dealing with it is admitting it. Denying it, in the face of history AND current reality, is not the answer.
