THREAD: The Mueller report coming out Thursday.... the long wait is over.... here are 9 unanswered questions that the report might finally answer. cnn.com/2019/04/14/pol…
1) Will we learn anything new on collusion? We already know Mueller's bottom-line: the investigation "did not establish" a criminal conspiracy of collusion. But the report could have new details on Trump-Russia contacts, who knew about them, and more. cnn.com/2019/04/14/pol…
2) Did Mueller see "collusion" as a crime? There is no specific US law that says "collusion" is a crime. So which potential criminal violations was Mueller looking at when he investigated Trump associates for collusion? The legal theory will be intriguing. cnn.com/2019/04/14/pol…
3) What about obstruction of justice? Mueller thoroughly examined whether Trump obstructed the investigation, but ultimately decided not to offer a conclusion one way or the other. WHY??????? cnn.com/2019/04/14/pol…
4) How did Mueller assess Trump's public statements? Barr said Mueller scrutinized some of Trump's "public" actions. (Threatening Michael Cohen, dangling pardons for Manafort, saying he was thinking about Russia when he fired Comey, etc.) What came of it? cnn.com/2019/04/14/pol…
5) Who was investigated but never charged? We already know who was charged. But we don't know his "declination decisions." That is, the people he investigated but declined to charge. Mueller is required to explain this in the report. Watch for redactions. cnn.com/2019/04/14/pol…
6) Will Mueller offer ethical or moral conclusions? The investigation is over, but that doesn't mean everyone whose conduct was scrutinized will walk away with a clean bill of health. Will Mueller "pull a Comey" and give judgements on non-criminal actions? cnn.com/2019/04/14/pol…
7) How many related investigations are ongoing? During the course of his investigation, Mueller referred some cases to other prosecutors. Details about these probes in the report will be redacted, But... the length of these redactions could be telling. cnn.com/2019/04/14/pol…
8) How did Mueller investigate the Russians? Mueller's two indictments against Russians featured exquisite details about the Russian operation. The CIA and NSA likely helped Mueller get these insider details. Will we learn more about how they did it? cnn.com/2019/04/14/pol…
9) Which countries assisted the investigation? Mueller's team "made 13 requests to foreign governments for evidence," according to Barr's summary of their investigation. Will the report name the countries? This could cause some diplomatic problems. cnn.com/2019/04/14/pol…
END. Here's a link to the full article. cnn.com/2019/04/14/pol…
