In 2005, Lydia Cacho was detained by police officers who threw her into a van and tortured her for 20 hours. Sexual assault was threatened. A gun was pushed into her mouth. "I kept thinking one minute I was going to die, then that I would survive." #OpDeathEaters #LydiaCacho
Corruption tapes leaked that show her arrest/ torture was orchestrated by a man she had exposed in a paedosadist network. On 29 July, her satellite phone signal was hacked and broadcasted "We are going to send you home in pieces." She fled the country. #OpDeathEaters #LydiaCacho
In April 2012, her friend, the Mexican investigative journalist Regina Martinez, was murdered. Anna Politkovskaya was also a friend; Cacho recalls they met two months before the Russian journalist was murdered in 2006. She searches for the words: "Reality. Shock."
