I'm old enough to remember how evil it was that othermakers used rare earth magnets in their motors. $TSLA instead took the high road and used only induction motors. It was a big deal 7 years ago.
When the Model 3 was introduced, it was granted dispensation for reasons unexplained. Fast forward to today and now the entire lineup has joined the dark side. Again, no apology on Earth Day to an Earth with a rare supply of rare earth elements.
In related news, we welcome back the S75 and X75 into Tesla's lineup. But gone are the badges that they proudly bore. In fact, we don't even like to talk about kWh's anymore.

1/ OK, Wednesday is almost upon us. It's time to do a quick update to the Q1 earnings estimate. There are likely to be significant one-time expenses and/or credits that will surprise us all. So instead of deep-diving each element, I'll share this morning’s shot from the hip.
2/ Revenue: We know that unit sales were down 30%. Prices were discounted significantly in the quarter. But overseas sales of Model 3 (about half the total) were all premium models. In the end, I calculated that revenues would also be down about 30%.
3/ Energy: Same as Q4.
Services/Other: I believe Tesla remains deeply underwater with used car sales. The problem is worse in Q1 because it has to balance against 30% less revenue.
ZEV: Just a guess. $50 million just as a placeholder.

1/ There was an astute question posed on Saturday by @notabigdeal111 (3Aces). I had hoped to process enough data for an accurate assessment, but there were too many variations in the option mix and model mix. So instead, I’ll just present a best-case scenario (in Tesla’s favor).
2/ In a nutshell, 3Aces wanted to know how Q3 and Q4 profitability would have been affected if the 2019 price reductions had been in effect during those quarters. Let’s summarize the 2019 price reductions.
3/ Early Jan - $2000 across the board.
Early Feb - $1100 more on M3.
Late Feb - $6000 to $13000 across the board.
Autopilot/FSD options took some away and added some back in.
Give and take, $TSLA is now grossing about $9000 less per vehicle.

1/ Dutch discounts in 2017 are impressive for sure! Here's a follow-up.

Yesterday morning, I took a quick stab at summarizing $TSLA’s geographical revenues. Unfortunately, I neglected to parse out NL sales from the rest of the world in Q1+Q2.
2/ But fortunately, @AlexT caught the error and I hastily fixed the numbers based on registration data. It made the results look much more normal. But once again, Alex pointed out that data in the Q3 10-Q could provide even more accurate numbers. So I went back for another look.
3/ It turns out that by combining NL revenue data supplied in the Q3 10-Q and the Q4 10-K, you can paint a good picture of quarterly revenue for the past 2 years. In a nutshell, we have Q3 revenues, Q3 YTD revenues, and full year revenues for 2017 and 2018.

I'm old enough to remember when left-wing Jews were barred from speaking at Hillels, forced out of communities, silenced and defamed, their Judaism second-guessed or deemed illegitimate.
As @PeterBeinart wrote almost 10 years ago, the American Jewish establishment demanded that young Jews check their liberalism (or leftism) at Zionism's (and the larger Jewish institutional world's) door.
Instead of simply accepting this, many of us fought back. We started movements and organizations. We demanded more inclusive communities. We demonstrated that there is no contradiction between being left-wing and anti-occupation and being proudly and unabashedly Jewish.

I'm old enough to remember when social issues were supposed to be toxic and untouchable. Moralizing was among the worst of public sins. Now we get moralizing lectures and social activism from big corporations on a weekly basis.
Of course, the truth is that social issues were never inherently toxic. It was just a successful ruse to intimidate conservatives out of discussing them for a crucial generation or two. The Left only wanted the other side to unilaterally disarm in the culture wars.
The result was the bloodless, dispassionate, disengaged "fiscal conservatism" that lost major elections to left-wing demagogues. Nothing wrong with fiscal conservatism, mind you, but disconnecting it from social issues robbed it of emotional resonance.

(San Jose isn't nearly as cold as San Francisco.)
There are lots of restaurant options along N San Pedro St between W Santa Clara St and W Saint John St.

Its a short walk from the convention centre and nothing like accidentally walking through the Tenderloin in SF.
WWDC Tip:

In the San Jose Convention Center it's a lot more difficult to look over or through the crowd to see and recognize people (compared to Moscone West).

The pillars obstruct the view *a lot*.

The stairs to the lab (assuming the same layout as last year) are better.
