How governments and politicians treat protests depends on how convenient those protests are to the government.
The difference between the scales of the two protests -- the GJs and the XR/schools -- is extraordinary.

Yet it's only the climate protests that governments celebrate.
"Protest" only counts when it supports the political establishment's agenda.

Others will face batons, tear gas, dogs, and prison.
If governments roll out the red carpet for your "protest"...

... it's not a protest.
What is it then?

Government PR.

That's all it is.
Run the numbers.

A six-month long protest every weekend in France, by hundreds of thousands, supported by millions (up to 80%) of French people, now spreading across Europe.

vs.

A couple of protests by a few thousand children, mainly in capital cities.
Comparison is everything in politics.

The scale of the reception and the positive media coverage of the child is equal only to the actual scale of the Gilet Jaunes protests.
Until MPs from all parties invite the Gilet Jaunes to speak to them, and they treat them with such reverence, no MP can claim that their reception of Greta was anything other than vapid virtue-signalling and rank hypocrisy.
And what goes for UK MPs goes twice for the zombie politicians in Brussels.
